Bio
CC David Stockum
A Lion since 2008, when he retired from a 35-year career teaching secondary English in the East Muskingum and Lancaster School Districts, Council Chairperson Dave Stockum has had numerous leadership experiences "moving through the Lions’ chairs." A club secretary for the Rushville Union Lions, he eventually became President, adding women to the club roster for the first time during his term in office.
An Assistant Zone Chair and then Zone Chair in the old MD 13K, CC Dave became 2VDG for 13K and 1VDG and DG for the newly formed OH7. As Governor of OH7, he hosted the first Women’s Workshop in MD13 and joined PCC Kerry Parker and OH2 to host a Women’s Workshop as an
Acting Governor of OH1.
CC Dave has attended four USA/Canada Forums, four International Conventions, over 30 MD-13 District Conventions, 10 MD13 Conventions, RLLI 1-3, and club projects in all the MD13 Districts. He received four Council of Governor Awards, three Presidential Certificates of Appreciation, one Presidential Service Award, and numerous certificates for presentations ranging from Ohio Cemeteries to The Organization of Our Organization twice presenting at USA/Canada Forums. He has served on the MD13 GLT committee, teaching at RLLI, Winter Retreat, and Super Weekend. CC Dave is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, a Dick Bryan Fellow, and a former Lion of the Year from the Rushville Union Lions Club.
He was the first Executive Director of the Ohio Lions Pediatric Cancer Foundation. He has also served on the Pilot Dogs Executive Board. Of all his Lion experiences, his emphasis on increasing the membership of women as Lions, promoting women into leadership roles and advancing the participation of MD13 clubs in supporting pediatric cancer research, as well as helping families who have children with cancer, have been major areas of focus.
He graduated from Lorain Brookside High School and Cornell University, doing graduate work at Ohio University. CC Dave lives in Lancaster, Ohio where he is often found babysitting three of his four grandchildren. He has three sons and one daughter, scattered throughout Central and Southwestern Ohio.
