DG Janet Christen

Lion Janet has had 100% attendance since joining the Calcutta Lions Club in 2009. She has served 12 years on the Board of Directors, has served as membership chair as well as 1st & 2nd Vice President and Club President.

She served as a club delegate to the Melvin Jones Eye Care Foundation and then moved on to their board of directors where she still serves today. She was elected 2nd VDG for the 2021/2022 year and 1st VDG 2022/2023 year. Janet served as Zone Chairperson for 2 years and has received the Knights of the Blind award.

She has a bachelors and Masters degree from Lions University and attended 2 years of RLLI. She has attended 12 OH 4 District Conventions as well as many other district conventions throughout Ohio. She has been to 11 MD 13 Conventions, 2 LCI Conventions and 4 USA /Canada Forums.

Lion Janet earned her Bachelor’s degree in education from Kent State University and her Masters Degree in administration from Ashland University. She spent her entire 35year career as an educator with the Beaver Local School District serving her final 7 years as an administrator before retiring in 2007. She continues to volunteer at the school. She has served her church as an Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher and Youth Group advisor.

Lion Janet has been married to PDG Wayne for 53 years, they have 2 sons, 3 granddaughters and 1 grandson.
