Lion Mike first joined the Port Clinton Lions Club in 1984, where he served as a Club Director and Third Vice President until a job transfer took him to Chicago in 1989. After retiring and returning home, he rejoined the Port Clinton Lions Club in 2018, where he has since served as First Vice President and Club President for two consecutive years.

In addition to his leadership roles, Lion Mike contributed significantly as a member of the Board of Directors, Ways and Means Committee Chairperson, Disaster Relief Advisory Board Chairperson, and Membership Chairperson.

At the District level, Lion Mike served two years as Zone Chairperson, one year as Second Vice District Governor and First Vice District Governor.

His dedication has been recognized with several honors, including a Melvin Jones Fellowship, Council of Governors Award (2026), the International President’s Award (2024) for outstanding service to Lions International, the Lions Key Award (2022), and Club Certificates of Appreciation in 1986 and 2020.

Lion Mike’s wife, Lion Lorna, is also an active member of the Port Clinton Lions Club, and together they exemplify the Lions’ motto, “We Serve.” They have two daughters, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Professionally, Lion Mike retired from USG Corporation after more than 41 years of service as Director, Leadership and Organizational Development. His academic credentials include a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo, and both an MBA and Ph.D. from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois.

While residing in the Chicago area, he served as an adjunct faculty member at Elmhurst College, DePaul University, and Capella University. Most recently, he served as Senior Adjunct Faculty Member at Adler University, teaching in Undergraduate, Master’s and Ph.D. programs.
