DG Mike Kerek
LDG PDG Mike Kerek has been a Lion since 1999, where he joined the Columbus Southeast Lions. He transferred in 2012 to the Reynoldsburg Lions. During his tenure as a Lion he has served in most capacities on the club level and numerous ones on the district level, including GLT, GMT, CST, zone and region chair, among others. He served as District Governor the first time in 2018-19. Currently he is Club Membership Chair, Club Administrator, Leo advisor, District Administrator, 1VDG, and the Executive Director of the Ohio Lions Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
Lion Mike has personally sponsored 30 new members to date, including 9 new Lions this year. He has also set up 2 new Club Branches and a new club, the Columbus East Side Lions Club. He is serving as a Certified Guiding Lion for this new club and also for an existing club that reached out for assistance.
Over the years he has received various recognitions, including a Presidential Award, Leadership Award, 3 LCI President Certificates of Appreciation, New Voices Service Recognition, a Council Chair Award, 3 COG Awards of Merit, and a Journey of Hope Award from the OLPCF.
Outside of Lions, Mike is the Lead Account Specialist at Hyperlogistics, a 3PL on the south side of Columbus. He a soloist and worship leader in his church; is a certified member of the Franklin County CERT Team; and when possible, he enjoys time with his wife of 30+ years, Lion Joy. He also plays golf and goes fishing with friends – pursuits he enjoys because both not only encourage, but expect, excuses and good stories afterward! Reading and traveling take his remaining available time.
