Bio

DG Bill Schultz

Lion Bill was a member of the Athens Lions club from 1984-1986. Due to a job and location change, Bill was out of Lions until he joined the Baltimore Lions Club in 1995. He has served as club Lion Tamer, Tail Twister, Board Member, Membership Committee member, First Vice President, President (twice) and was a Volunteer at the 2006 USA/Canada Leadership Forum in Columbus. He sponsored two new members and was very active with the Liberty Day books program in the school, was the club liaison for the school land lab committee and worked the funnel cake trailer at nearly all events.

Bill served as the District Tail Twister, Convention Emcee, Cabinet Secretary/Treasurer, 2nd VDG, 1st VDG and District Governor (2013-2014).

In 2014, he moved back to Athens and transferred to his original club. He served Athens as the LCIF representative, 1st Vice President, cochair of the “Message in a Bottle” project and he sponsored one new member. He served one year as assistant Zone Chair and one year as Zone Chair. He was a volunteer for the 2018 USA/Canada Leadership Forum in Columbus.

As a PDG, Bill served as president of the 13K PDG Association and coordinated the redistricting of the new district OH7. He was the chair of the district and state Marketing and Communications Committee and coordinated the development of the Ohio Lions Centennial Celebration Committee.

In January of 2019, he was appointed to complete the vacant 1st VDG position and in March was elected to serve as Governor for 2019-2020.

Bill retired from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry in 2004 after 25 ½ years. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, photography, Smokey Bear memorabilia and Ohio paving brick collecting. He is a U S Air Force Veteran (1969-1973) and a graduate of Hocking Technical College (Forestry-1976). He has two adult daughters, one son-in-law and four grandchildren.
