DG Kevin Reidy
Lion Kevin Reidy has been a member of the Savannah Lions Club since 1998; however, he became a Lions Club member in 1992 in Belpre, OH (District 13K, now OH7). In nearly 30 years, Lions’ leadership and service have been synonymous with Lion Kevin’s Lions journey.
As a retired educator, initially teaching high school social studies, then serving as a high school administrator, Lion Kevin’s professional experiences mesh well with Lions Clubs’ commitment to others. He has served as Savannah Lions’ president twice, secretary for two years and currently is the club treasurer. Savannah Lions are its community’s sole service organization, providing resource support to local youth, Crestview Local School District partnerships, and Lions District and International programs. In addition, the club completed recent community service projects including restoration of Academy Park in Savannah and Savannah Town Hall renovations.
Lion Kevin served as Zone 7 Chairman from 2012 to 2014. At the district level, he served as Global Membership Chair from 2014 to 2017; Second Vice District Governor from 2019 to 2020; and First Vice District Governor from 2020-2021. He participated in Regional Lions Leadership Institute training in 2014.
Lion Kevin is a Melvin Jones Fellow, Dick Bryan Fellow and Richard Neiderhauser Fellow. He has received the Ohio Lions Eye Research Foundation Leadership Award (2013-14) and Council of Governors’ Award of Merit (2014 and 2017). In 2021, Reidy received an International President’s Award from IP Jung-Yul Choi. He is active in his faith community as its property trustee as well as serving as an elected district trustee representing member-owners in an electric cooperative.
The 2021-2022 District 13 OH2 theme, “Guiding, Leading, Lighting, Serving”, is affixed to Lion Kevin’s Governor’s pin. The DG Pin, designed by Lion Kevin’s daughter, Dr. Brooke Reidy, embraces the images of Guiding (Golden Retriever), Leading (American Flag bandana), Lighting (OH2 Lighthouse) and Serving (Lions Logo: We Serve).
Along with his fellow Multiple District 13 Governors, Lion Kevin has committed District OH2 to implement the North American Membership Initiative, now known as the Global Membership Approach. In addition to forming new clubs, Lions of OH2 will be encouraged to promote new members, engaging existing members through exciting service and provide leader support throughout the 2021-2022 Lions year. Additionally, Lions will be asked to focus upon goal setting for their clubs; entertain both global and local service projects; donate to the Lions Clubs International Foundation; and pursue youth outreach through a local Liberty Day project.
Lion Kevin’s partner in service, Lion Debbie Reidy, is a six-year member of LCI, serving as a club director, service chair and currently as Savannah Lions club president. She is the district Global Service Team coordinator and district administrator. Also, a retired educator, Lion Debbie taught a variety of middle school subjects and served as a high school principal. Along with their Golden Retriever, Murphy, the Reidy’s enjoy time with family in Indiana and Illinois and travel to experience the grandeur that is America.
