PayPal / Zelle Scams

To All Ohio Lions,

Please be on the alert for scammers asking to be paid via PayPal or Zelle. The email requests may appear to come from a Lions member or someone you know, the name will be right, but the actual email address will be wrong. I received one claiming to be Mike Kerek that even mentioned PCC Jay wanting my help with a payment for a planned event.

The scammers are able to harvest names from the website and make up appropriate sounding scenarios to request money. Only a few email addresses are public, like mine This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., which is why I received one. But other committee chairs and officers may get one as well.

Never send money to anyone without verifying the information first. Never reply or click on links in an email unless you fully trust it. Call or email using your existing contact information.
