Passing of PDG Harold Merkle 1993-94, 13-A (OH1)
It is with great sorrow to announce PDG Harold Merkle’s passing. PDG Harold was a 67 year member of the Convoy Lions Club. He served as District Governor for District 13-A (OH1) in 1993-94. Lion Harold served on many club, district, and state committees over the years including serving on the Ohio Lions Foundation. PDG Harold was a long time member of the Ohio Lions PDG Association.
PDG Harold was married to Janet for 63 years. Their family consisted of four children, thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Calvary Evangelical Church with Pastor Chris Farmer of First United Methodist Church officiating. Calling hours are 4:00-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home and one hour of calling on Wednesday before the services at the church.
Private interment will take place at a later date at Evangelical Protestant Cemetery, Harrison Township, Van Wert County, where military honors will be rendered by combined units of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5803 and American Legion Post #178, both of Van Wert.
Preferred memorials are to The Convoy Lion’s Club or to the Van Wert Gideons Camp.
