Forum Faithful Lion PDG Bruce Strome
From 1977 (the year of the first USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum) though the 2019 Spokane, WA, Forum, Lion Bruce was one of only two Lions who had attended every year. 41 years! On his suit jacket are the pins for all those Forums! Lions Bruce was a Lion in Ohio, Florida, and finally South Carolina.
Mr. Bruce Leroy Strome, 87, of Hartsville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 25th, 2021, while at the McLeod Hospice House.
A native of Troy, OH, Mr. Strome was a son of the late Willard & Marjorie Upp Strome. He proudly served the United State Military in the Army for 2 years and was of the Methodist Faith. For over 50 years, Bruce was a faithful member of the Lions Club; an organization he greatly loved. He served the Lions Club while in Ohio as District Governor, he then moved to Florida, and finally to McBee, SC. While in McBee, he was President, Zone Chairman, and Lion Tamer. He was later inducted into the Lions Club Hall of Fame. Bruce retired from A.O. Smith of Troy, OH.
Surviving are his wife of 17 years, Joyce Strome of the home; stepchildren: Wanda Parnell of Florence, Ronnie Jones of Hartsville, Richard (Pam) Jones of Hartsville, Michael (Vicky) Jones of Sumter, Sherrille (Tommy) Wilks of Patrick; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; nieces, Joanne Vaseques of Santa Barbara, CA, and Candy Young of Troy, OH; and a nephew, Rick Kroneerg of Troy, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild; and a niece, Cookie Lutz.
Bruce believed in living life to the fullest and he did just that. He had a deep love for his family, lions, fishing, hunting, and helping others. He will be truly missed. Until we meet again, we love you!
