It is with deep regret that I inform you of the passing of PDG Russell Oxender. PDG Oxender passed away on September 12, 2021 in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 97.
PDG Oxender served as District Governor in Dist-A in 1985-86. He was a charter member of Pioneer Lions in 1976.
Lion Russ’s body is to be flown back from Arizona Monday or Tuesday. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home (303 1st St, Pioneer, Ohio 43554). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Pioneer Community Center (100 N. Elm St, Pioneer, Ohio 43554). Due to the ongoing pandemic, the family is asking that masks be worn at visitation and services.
Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association, Relay for Life, and the Melvin Jones Lions International Memorial, Inc.
