For all Ohio Lions planning to go to Chicago for the 2017 International Convention, here is some useful information on Traveling by Bus, What to Bring and the Parade Route.
Please Note: We plan to take an MD13 group photo at the Chicago Art Institute on Saturday, July 1 at 1:00pm after the parade. Anyone wishing to be in the group photo should be at the Art Institute by 1:00pm. This is tentative and times are subject to change slightly.

Bus Drop-Offs and Pick-Ups
District OH-2
Please be at you pick-up location at least 15 minutes early. We will begin loading as soon as the bus gets there.
Pick-up June 30
- 7:00am - Fostoria Jr / Sr High School
- 7:30am - Tiffin Walmart
- 9:00am - Ashland Buehler’s (SR 250)
- 10:30am - Port Clinton Bassett’s
Drop-off July 5
- 2:00pm - Port Clinton Bassett’s
- 3:30pm - Ashland Buehler’s (SR 250)
- 5:00pm - Tiffin Walmart
- 5:30pm - Fostoria Jr / Sr High School

Depart: June 29
Return: July 4
District OH-6
Depart: July 29 from Washington Court House.
Return: July 5 to Washington Court House.

Depart: Leave from
- The FunBus Depot at 2188 E Main St in Lancaster on June 29 at 8:00am.
- Pickup at the Logan County Friendly Senior Center at 934 S Main St in Bellefontaine around 9:45am.
Return: Pick-up at 8:30am (Centra Standard Time) on July 5 in front of the Palmer House to Lancaster.
What to Bring
Parade Clothing
If you are planning to walk with the Ohio Delegation in the Parade of Nations, please remember to bring parade attire
- Ohio Lions red parade shirt
- Black long pants or crop pants (no shorts)
- Black socks Black shoes, no sandals
- No hats or visors please
*If you do not have these items, you are welcome to walk with the back of the delegation group.
All Paperwork
Please remember to bring paper copies of your convention registration and hotel deposit. Bring any initial registration paperwork that you have been mailed.
*If you intend to vote, remember your delegate confirmation (as submitted by your club secretary or president) and your active membership card.
Weather and Event Appropriate Clothing
Check the forecast before leaving. Current forecasts predict sunny and partially cloudy with temperatures at 80F-90F. You might want to keep in mind...
- Comfortable walking shoes
- A water bottle
- Sunscreen
- All medications
- Tylenol, Advil or other pain reliever
- Enough cash for your first 4 meals or until you can find an ATM if necessary
- A hat and sunglasses
- A daypack
- A sweater or jacket for cool evenings
- An umbrella or rain poncho (even if there is no rain forecasted, because unexpected showers happen)

Many of these can be purchased, but are not guaranteed to be readily available.
- Cell phone & charger (cord & cube)
- Portable charger
- Camera/Video Camera & chargers
- C-Pap or other health devices
- Razor
- Laptop and power cord
A Positive Attitude and Your Patience
There will be an enormous amount of people at the convention and around the city. Remember that you are, everywhere that you go, a representative of the Lions. Think about eating at more unusual times to help avoid crowds if you see that eating establishments are overly backed up.
