MD13-OSSBMB committee fund raising page.

The Council of Governors voted on November 1, 2008 to create a committee to assist the OSSBMB in raising money to send the OSSB Marching Band to the Rose Bowl parade on January 1, 2010.

The Ohio State School for the Blind Marching Band (OSSB MB) successfully completed its trip to Pasadena to march in the 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade thanks to the efforts of the Lions of Ohio thru the Ohio Lions Foundation (OLF), The Columbus Foundation, Parents, Teachers and Student Foundation.

The Marching Band has been invited to participate in numerous parades around the country. There is an ongoing need for instrument repair and replacement. The students, being kids and blind, tend to run into things with their instruments or step on their instruments causing damage.

We will continue to make available the opportunity for Lions Clubs, individual Lions and friends of the MB to make additional contributions to benefit the MB thru the Ohio Lions Foundation restricted fund.

All donations are tax deductible through the Ohio Lions Foundation.

The OLF has received nearly $72,000 to date. The Parent Teacher Student Foundation (PTSF) received almost $9,500 directly from Lions Clubs in the State of Ohio. There has been another $6,000+ attributable to individual Lions and friends who contributed directly to PTSF. The Lions of Ohio can take great pride in knowing we were responsible for raising approximately $87,500 for the benefit of the OSSBMB!!

On February 11, 2010 at 6:30 p.m., the Ohio State School for the Blind will be commemorating their adventures in Pasadena and have invited you to attend the event. Please feel free to share this with those individuals who have supported and assisted the OSSB Marching Panthers in reaching their goal.

There will be a recap of Bandfest, the float judging, and of course the Rose Parade. The band will play.

This event is open to the public. Participants and contributors are encouraged to attend! We look forward to seeing you on the 11th.
