Lion Steve joined the Duncan Falls-Philo Lions Club October 15, 1990. He has served his club as President 1995-1996. He served his club as Secretary for 9 years. He was voted Lion of the Year in 1993, 1996 and 1999 by the members of the Duncan Falls-Philo Lions Club. He has also received the MD-13 Council of Governors Award of Merit in 2004-2005, MD-13 Council of Governors Award of Excellence 2006-2007. He also received 9 excellent Secretary Awards and 1 Excellent President Award and International President Leadership Award and Certificate of Appreciation. Lion Steve was awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship in 2007 by the members of the Duncan-Falls-Philo Lions Club.

He has served the district as Region Two Leadership for three years and Central Ohio Lions Eye Bank for two years. He served as Cabinet Secretary/Treasurer for PDG Marty Savage.

Lion Steve and Lion Debbie have attended two USA/Canada Forums and two International Conventions.

Lion Steve has also served as Wayne Township Trustee for the past 14 years and is currently serving this fourth term. He is past President of the Muskingum County Water Board and served on the Muskingum County Planning Commission. He is employed by the Oxford Oil Company as a meter technician. Lion Steve served in the United States Army from May 1969 to May 1971.

Lion Steve grew up in Zanesville and married his high school sweetheart Debbie. He and Lion Debbie have been married 37 years. They have two children, a daughter, Jennifer (Matt), and a son Christopher (Stephanie) and they have five grandchildren: Andrew, Nathan, Connor, Margaret and Olivia. Lion Steve and Lion Debbie are members of the Brighton Presbyterian Church.
