A native of Perrysville, Ohio, Lion Dana graduated from Loudonville-Perrysville High School in 1966. He went to work for Mansfield Plumbing Products in Big Prairie, Ohio as Draftsman. He was transferred to the Perrysville plant and was promoted to Mechanical Engineer. His career at Mansfield plumbing lasted 25 years ending as a victim of down-sizing. Dana presently works for Ariel Corporation of Mt. Vernon, Ohio and has for 17 years as a Maintenance Tech and Preventative Maintenance Scheduler.

Lion Dana married Lion Julianne Black on February 15, 1969. He is a member of the Perrysville Baptist Church but attends St. John’s Lutheran in Perrysville where he has been a youth advisor, usher, and choir member. Lion Dana is a Past Master of Hanover Lodge #115 and High Priest of King Cyrus Chapter #207. He has a 38-year career with the Boy Scouts serving many years as Scoutmaster and Committee Chairman. Dana was awarded the Silver Beaver, the highest award given by the Boy Scout Council. He has been on the Wood Badge staff, which is a train-the-trainer program for 4 years. Dana has earned his 3 Bead status. He took his Wood Badge Course in 1975. He has attended many Boy Scout National Jamborees serving on staff at several. He is currently the President of the Perrysville Memorial Day Association. He is member of the Loudonville Perrysville FFA Alumni and was awarded the honorary State Farmers Degree. Dana has portrayed Santa Claus for 40 years.

Lion Dana has been a member of the Perrysville Lions Club since 1970. He has held the offices of President and Secretary several times. In 2003 – 2005 he served as Zone 8 chairman and served as State Membership Committee Representative. Dana is a Melvin Jones Fellow. He has attended several International conventions and USA/Canada Forums where he sang in the choir and worked in the store.
